About me
For 23 years Heather worked as a clinician in mental health and substance use services where she was known for her clinical skill and her commitment to holding space for those who are struggling. These years of experience have accumulated to a broad clinical skillset that have laid the foundation for her future work with BCLC. In March of 2020 Heather joined BCLC as a Team Lead with Player Health. Since her start, the Game Sense Advisor Program has expanded to provide GSA support to players through live chat and phones. Heather is currently the Team Lead of the Virtual GSA program where she has applied her lens on health and mental wellness to contribute to the evolution and growth of the Virtual Game Sense Advisor Program. She is dedicated and passionate about coaching and the professional and personal development of her staff. Additionally, she is committed to supporting the growth and sustainability of the virtual program so that support is available when and where people need it. Motivated by her desire to contribute to positive change and by the wellness of young people in her community, Heather also decided to pursue a position as an elected School Trustee in 2018 with the school board in Kamloops, the city which she calls home. She is now in her second term and is the current chair of the board of education in the Kamloops-Thompson school district. Above all, she is a parent to her 15 year old daughter and when not working, can be found either coaching or watching her play volleyball.
